Congratulations to the
Avon Marching Black & Gold
for capturing the 2008 Bands
of America Grand National
Championship!!!
They become just the 5th
Indiana band to capture the
prestigious Grand National
Championship Eagle trophy.
The other groups preceding
them include Chesterton
(1981), Center Grove (1995),
Lawrence Central (2001,
2004), and Carmel (2005).
This accomplishment adds to
the list of accolades that
Avon has earned since
starting their historic run
to the top in October of
2001. Along with capturing 7
consecutive ISSMA State
Championships, 1 ISSMA State
Finals runner-up, a Class AA
National Championship
(2002), and now a Class AAA
National Championship and
Overall Grand National
Championship, Avon was also
the recipient of the highly
sought International Sudler
Shield Award this past
spring.

Top 12 Finals Results
Along with Avon,
Indiana was well-represented
in the Top 12 Finals at this
year's Grand National
Championships, with
Lawrence Central (3rd place), Carmel
(5th place),
and Ben Davis (10th place) all qualifying
for the Finals night show
and being able to showcase a
wonderful ending to a
spectacular season!
Ben Davis completed a
phenomenal run to the Top 12
National Finals after
placing just 10th at the
ISSMA State Finals two weeks
ago. They completed one of
the most unbelievable surges
to the top in such a short
period of time, and arguably
etched themselves into
Indiana marching band
history as being the most
improved band throughout the
final 3 weeks of any season
we've seen.
Also of note: Lake Central
and Center Grove just missed
the cut by placing 13th and
15th respectively in the
Saturday Semifinals event.
Congratulations to everyone
that competed, and Thank
You to everyone in
Indiana for another
outstanding season!

Indiana. We welcome all of
our returning members along
with the newcomers to join
us for another fantastic
